‘AMERICAN PSYCHO’

It’s not surprising that Henry Bean would write a favorable review of a slash-and-gore novel with many female victims. Thus does the boys’ club defend its members.

Bean, after all, gave us the screenplay for “Internal Affairs.” In this film, the sympathetic hero, played by the popular Andy Garcia, knocks his loving wife across a room full of her friends and admirers in a fit of jealousy. She responds by feeling sorry for the brute, forgiving him and taking him back without question, and they live happily ever after.

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence and sensitivity would reject the view of women shared by authors Bean and Ellis. I can’t believe you gave front-page Book Review space to a critic with such miserable credentials as Bean’s. I suppose it will help sell Ellis’ book, but not to me.
