HEAVY MEDAL: He was more often folksy than stern, more an Omar Bradley than a George Patton. Lt. Gen. Thomas W. Kelly, above, earned fame for the daily briefings he gave from the Pentagon during the Persian Gulf War. Now retired and on the speakers’ circuit, Kelly on May 14 will be the featured speaker at Chapman College’s tribute to Medal of Honor winners. And next Monday the general will throw out the first ball at the Angels’ home opener at Anaheim Stadium. . . . On the tube tonight, the Angels play in Seattle on Channel 5 at 7:30. The Dodgers are on TV from Atlanta, starting at 4:30.
