Dispatcher Helps Save Drowning Boy
A 2-year-old boy who fell into his back-yard swimming pool Tuesday was revived with the help of a Fire Department dispatcher who gave instructions for cardiopulmonary resuscitation over the phone, authorities said.
Dispatcher John Shope said the boy, identified by neighbors as Christopher Ha, was in the pool for about five minutes before friends or relatives pulled him out. The child began breathing slowly after CPR was administered, he said.
The incident happened about 6 p.m. at the Oma Place home of David and Jennifer Ha.
