Long Beach : Environmental Report for Sports Complex Approved
The environmental impact report for a 42-acre adult sports complex in Long Beach--with an estimated price tag as high as $5.5 million--was approved at a recent Planning Commission meeting, even though there is no money to build it.
“My guess is that this will not (be built with) city money, but will use public or federal funds. This will probably sit on the shelf until that funding is found,” said Ralph S. Cryder of the city’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
After a lengthy debate, the commission unanimously approved the environmental report for the complex, which would include eight softball diamonds and four soccer fields in El Dorado Park.
