From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Alcoa: The world’s largest producer of aluminum reported earnings of $97 million for the first quarter, down 35% from the year-ago period. The Pittsburgh-based company had revenue of $2.4 billion, down 7%. The earnings decline was attributed to lower prices for most fabricated products, a 25% drop in alumina prices and a decline in ingot prices.
