FULLERTON : Sorority’s Revised Project OKd by City

Share

The City Council this week approved a request by Cal State Fullerton sorority Alpha Delta Pi to build a two-car garage and conference room at the sorority’s present location.

The decision came after the sorority revised its original plans.

Last December, the Planning Commission rejected the project after nearby residents complained that it would be a neighborhood nuisance.

Neighbors objected to a proposed second-story deck and the location designated for a conference room. The deck has been dropped from the plans and the conference room now will be located farther away from neighbors.

While the sorority has 80 members, the house, which has occupied the site since 1974, has only 10 live-in members.

Neighbors periodically complain about noise from parties at the sorority house.

But Linda Cordero, president of the Alpha Delta Pi House Corp., insisted that any problems have been exaggerated.

“Some of these neighbors think we have parties all the time,” Cordero said. “We do have some functions, but not at the level these people claim we have. We don’t even allow any alcohol on the premises.”
