Covina : Extra Conservation Asked

Share

The city Water Department is asking customers to use less water this week because of construction by the Metropolitan Water District.

MWD will shut down a main transmission pipeline for five days beginning at 12:05 a.m. Monday to install a valve for a new service connection at Ramona and Baldwin Park boulevards in Baldwin Park. Covina Irrigation Co., however, still will supply water to the 8,137 businesses and households served by Covina’s Water Department.

William Bennington, Covina’s water system supervisor, said the city has never operated with just one water source. “We’re not trying to frighten anyone, we won’t run out of water,” he said. “We just want them to make an extra effort to conserve.”
