Porter Ranch Facts Are Being Obscured

Share

The Porter Ranch plan for modified and controlled development is becoming a smoke-screen for those seeking to unseat Councilman Hal Bernson.

All we hear is the rhetoric of the challengers trying to confuse the voters and create an atmosphere of fear.

Unfortunately, the facts of the issue are not being discussed.

The fact is the present zoning of the land permits the same type of development proposed in the Porter Ranch plan without the controls and limitations demanded by Councilman Bernson.

The fact is that the Porter Ranch plan is measured and spaced over a 20-year period and certain portions can only be implemented when the required infrastructure is in place, such as two additional lanes of the Simi Valley Freeway, opening the northbound Winnetka off-ramp, local and regional road improvements, traffic mitigation plans for the businesses, etc.

The Porter Ranch plan is good long-range planning for an area that has had uncontrolled growth to date.

Growth is a natural product of this area and is intrinsic to our economic vitality.

Councilman Bernson has always shown good judgment on growth management and is sensitive to our community.
