When a relationship fast-forwards from “Do you like broccoli?” to “Do you think we should live together?” there may be a way to fill in the blanks. Getting to Know You . . . Better (about $26) is a board game designed to do just what it says. Its cards pose questions about life experiences, aspirations (Has your perception of the future changed?), preferences (What is your favorite climate?) and opinions that help draw out bits of information on the players. The first one to make it around the board gets to choose from a prize list that includes a meal of the winner’s choice prepared by the loser.

This is the second such board game from Barbara and Michael Jonas, a San Francisco couple who introduced the more intimate An Enchanted Evening in 1982 for established couples. They quickly saw the need for a communication tool for newly formed twosomes.

“We wanted to create a game for singles that was humorous, provocative, but would concentrate on the positive aspects of relationships.” Michael says. “It creates a safe environment and allows you to talk about yourself so it doesn’t seem that you’re totally self-centered.”
