Nobody Home as Car Comes Calling

Share

A 1988 Buick registered to one of the family living at 5171 Bordeaux Ave. smashed into the middle of the home Sunday afternoon at about 45 m.p.h., police and family said. No one was hurt.

“Another 2 feet and (the car) would have been out the back door,” said homeowner Henry Finn.

Police said no one was home when the crash occurred about 4:50 p.m. But a neighbor reported seeing two young women fleeing afterwards, and the two were wanted for questioning.

“We’ve got the car,” Sgt. Dick Bowman said, “and we have a fair idea who (the driver) is.” Bowman said the car was registered to a young woman family member at the Bordeaux Avenue address, and police surmised that she was driving at the time. But, he added, “we won’t know until we talk to the driver.”

Finn declined to discuss specifics of the incident, except to say that the car came into his family room through a window at about 45 m.p.h. and that no one was hurt.

“I’m just trying to sweep up as much of this (debris) as I can,” he said.

Finn said he knew who the driver was but would not identify the person.
