Two men convicted of kidnaping four San Diego State University students for the purpose of robbing them were each sentenced to four consecutive life sentences Monday.

Timothy Long, 19, of South Bend, Ind., and Terry Alphonso Turner, 27, of Los Angeles, were sentenced by Superior Court Judge William D. Mudd, who said that both defendants were “extremely dangerous.”

In addition to the four consecutive life terms, both were sentenced to four years for using a gun during the crimes, and Turner was sentenced to an additional five years because of previous criminal convictions.

Both men were also convicted of three counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery and four counts of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from the Nov. 28 incident, which netted them $57.

During the attack, one of the students was forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from an automatic teller machine, and a shotgun was discharged over the legs of three victims and through the door of a Mercedes-Benz belonging to the mother of one of the victims.

Long will be eligible for parole in 30 years, and Turner will be eligible in about 32 years.
