Gasoline Inventories Fall: U.S. inventories of gasoline last week declined for the eighth consecutive week, falling below a federal minimum level for national supplies, the American Petroleum Institute reported. For the week ended April 12, the weekly survey by the oil industry trade group found gasoline inventories had slipped 2.3 million barrels to 204.2 million barrels, from 206.5 million the week before. That is well below the 222.5 million barrels in storage a year ago, and below the 205-million-barrel level set by the Department of Energy as the minimum that can satisfy the demands of the nation’s drivers without spot shortages starting to appear.
