Conference to Address Problems of Youths
Sheriff Sherman Block will be among speakers at a conference next week focusing on gangs, drugs and other problems facing San Fernando Valley youths.
The “State of the Children” conference will take place Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club of San Fernando Valley, 11251 Glenoaks Blvd., Pacoima. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
Speakers will include Jean Miller, community liaison for the Los Angeles Unified School District, and LeRoy Chase, executive director of the local Boys & Girls Club.
The conference will address problems of gangs, drugs, dropouts, teen-age pregnancy and latchkey children. “Our goal is to encourage community leaders to think about ways that they can use their resources to help lift up our community’s youth,” Chase said.
Information is available at (818) 357-4151.
