Demolition Ban on Old Houses Extended
The La Canada Flintridge City Council on Monday extended for six months a ban on demolition of all homes more than 80 years old.
The action was taken to protect older homes in the community while a committee of staff planners and volunteers develops a historic preservation plan.
The city’s General Plan lists 16 sites as worthy of preservation. A revised list and draft ordinance are expected to be brought before the Planning Commission within three months. Public hearings will be held by the commission and the City Council before a new ordinance is adopted.
