BUENA PARK : No Parking Near Day-Care Center

The City Council has banned parking next to Raymond Temple Elementary School in anticipation of the traffic that will be generated by a day-care center to be opened there.

The Centralia District, which runs the school and will operate the day-care facility, requested the red curbs so that district buses would be able to continue operating without disruption. A portion of the north side of La Cienaga Drive between Holder Street and La Corona Way will soon be off-limits to parking.

District officials were concerned that parents picking up and dropping off children at the site would park on the street in front of the school.

“This would make it possible for buses to go in and out of the driveway without any interference from cars parked on that street,” said Don Jensen, director of engineering.

The council voted 5 to 0 to approve the plan, which will take effect before the day-care center opens.
