Coldwell Banker Residential Group said Friday that Robert A. Rist has been named president of its Residential Affiliates franchising unit. The appointment was made just two days after Steven Bauer resigned as head of that unit to become president of rival Prudential Residential Affiliates in Costa Mesa.

Rist had been executive vice president of the Coldwell Affiliates subsidiary since 1989 and has held various executive posts within Coldwell Banker Residential Group and its parent, Sears, Roebuck and Co., since 1971.

Coldwell Banker Residential Affiliates is the administrative unit overseeing operations of 1,400 franchised Coldwell Banker real estate offices across the United States. In all, Coldwell Banker has 1,900 domestic offices and is the third-largest residential real estate chain in the country.
