Yorba Linda : Traffic Standards Applied to Firms

Share

The city will require new businesses with 100 or more employees to comply with new standards designed to ease traffic congestion.

The ordinance approved this week by the City Council will help the county comply with new state guidelines that make it eligible for Proposition 111 gas tax money. Yorba Linda expects to receive about $350,000 a year from the 9-cent-a-gallon tax.

Among the new requirements are that one locker be provided for every 50 employees and that at least two showers be installed for every 100 workers. Also, one bicycle space must be provided for every 20 employees. And businesses must provide loading areas for ride-share vehicles and preferential parking for van pools.

The ordinance also requires businesses to set aside 15% of parking spaces for car pools and to install a commuter information area, but those restrictions had been imposed previously by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
