I needed a timetable

for my heart

it always arrived

too early

departed too late

wandered lost on the platforms

I needed you

to steamroller the creases

I folded too many times

I was hurry and drag

beat slow

synch steps

I came in pieces

like misplaced baggage

cartons tied with baling wire

you held tight

against the spillage

and random punches

Oh, I loved you like speed

like fast exits

and jackrabbit starts

you held all the tickets

you opened the gates

It was 2 minutes to boarding

and we pulled out all the stops.
