Teacher Wins High-Tech Prize

Avideo and animation production teacher at Rowland High School in Rowland Heights has been named California’s Teacher of the Year in a nationwide competition sponsored by IBM and Technology & Learning magazine.

Dave Master also has been selected one of the 10 regional winners in the competition, which qualifies him for national Teacher of the Year honors. That winner will be announced in the fall.

Master will receive an IBM computer system, printer and an assortment of IBM software. He will also be recognized in a special edition of Technology & Learning next month.

The IBM/Technology & Learning Teacher of the Year Program--now in its fourth year--recognizes kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers who apply computer technology in the classroom to improve the learning process.

Master was singled out for his creation of an animation/arts curriculum that employs computer, video and sound technologies to encourage creative expression and develop students’ skills.
