The Sea of Grass (TMC Sunday at 8 a.m.): This 1947 film is the most unusual of the Spencer Tracy-Katharine Hepburn teamings, in which Hepburn plays a fragile woman crushed by the dominating Tracy, a feudal New Mexico rancher. Elia Kazan directed.

The Phantom of the Opera (Channel 28 Sunday at 4 p.m.). Rupert Julian’s 1925 silent classic version with Lon Chaney and Mary Philbin is still the most visually stunning, although Arthur Lubin’s 1943 edition and the current stage musical are more complex.

Grand Hotel (Showtime Tuesday at 8 p.m.): The original all-star (1932) movie is still the best, as Greta Garbo, John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Wallace Berry, Lewis Stone and Jean Hersholt converge at a plush Berlin hotel.
