Clean Air

Share

Recently, I went surfing at Seal Beach. My brother and I came out coughing. Outside of the Southern California area, visibility is normally about 75 miles. In the Southland, visibility averages about 16 miles. The offshore oil rigs, about 1.25 miles offshore, were barely visible. Figure that one out yourself.

To avoid being a hypocrite, I must admit that I am a part of this problem. All I’m asking for is a practical public transportation system that works. I’m sure that many others would like a decent public transportation system to avoid the hellish gridlock, only it’s just not available.

Government officials are always saying that funds are the problem. Well, Congress is about to consider passing the biggest military budget of all time. Yet, there is no money spent so that we can breathe clean air. There is obviously something very wrong with the way our money is being spent. If the government would be a little less gung-ho on the bombs and spend more on practical things, maybe we would all be a little healthier. Think about that.
