COUNTYWIDE : Pacific Mutual Gets United Way Honor

The United Way of Orange County on Wednesday awarded its highest honor to Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co.. for community service and the volunteer participation of its employees in Orange County.

Pacific Mutual received the Dimensions in Giving award at the United Way’s community leadership breakfast and annual meeting in Costa Mesa. Also honored for outstanding volunteer work were Jeff Olsen, chief executive officer of Professional Community Management; attorney Jeff Thomas; community volunteer Marcia Jager; Lilia Powell, executive director of the Orange County Coalition for Immigrant Rights and Responsibilities; and Bill Fowler, superintendent of recreation and human services for the city of Huntington Beach.

A special service award was presented to David Mudgett of the Koll Co. for his many years of service and professional contributions. Goodwill Industries of Orange County received the 1990-91 Agency of the Year award for the quality and diverse range of programs and services provided to the community.

The United Way’s Communications Public Service award was presented to The Times Orange County Edition for its news and editorial coverage of community problems and issues.

The United Way also elected its officers for 1991-92. The group’s new chairman is Brad Olson, president of Foothill Community Builders, an Irvine Co. subsidiary. Mudgett, Koll Co.’s senior vice president, was named vice president; Thomas B. Rogers of Security Pacific National Bank was elected treasurer; and Santa Ana volunteer Sharon Paisley was elected secretary.
