1st-Time Buyers: ‘Real Estate U.’ Is Ticket for You

Buying a home is never simple, it seems, but for first-time buyers it can be especially daunting, with so much at stake and so much to comprehend.

But there’s an easy way to take the mystery out of home buying--come to The Times’ Home Fair on Saturday. It’s a one-day class in the “College of Real Estate Knowledge” that’s perfect for first-timers.

Panels of real estate experts will answer your questions at morning and afternoon sessions, and more than 50 exhibitors will provide free information and services--credit checks, mortgage prequalification, home price data and tax guidance.

And representatives of the California Housing Finance Agency and the Federal National Mortgage Assn. will be on hand to explain their loan programs for first-time buyers with low to moderate incomes.
