BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES

Chicago Cubs pitcher Mike Harkey, formerly of Cal State Fullerton, will undergo diagnostic arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday.

Harkey, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, was 0-2 with a 5.30 earned-run average in four starts. On April 26 at Cincinnati, Harkey left after three innings, complaining of shoulder pain.
