A Marine reservist from Anaheim died Tuesday morning, 10 hours after he crashed his motorcycle into an Oceanside fence, an investigator from the County Medical Examiner’s office said.
Scott E. Schoening, 21, was eastbound on North Avenue near Autumn Drive in Oceanside when he lost control of his motorcycle, which had been traveling at a high speed, and crashed into a fence at 6:30 p.m. Monday, said county medical investigator Charles Kelly.
Schoening was taken to Palomar Memorial Hospital where he died of multiple injuries at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, Kelly said.
Schoening was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, he said.
