A Pacific Beach bank was robbed Wednesday morning of $1,300 by a young man who wore a dark blue baseball cap and used a demand note, a Police Department spokesman said.

The robbery occurred about 10 a.m. when the robber gave a teller at HomeFed Bank, in the 1000 block of Garnet Avenue, a demand note that read, “This is a stickup. Give me $3,000 and no ink”--a reference to the exploding ink sometimes enclosed in packets of money given to bank robbers, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.

The bandit ran from the bank and was last seen in an alley north of Garnet Avenue, he said.

The robber was described as a unshaven white male, about 20 years old, with short dark brown hair. Besides the baseball cap, he wore dark sunglasses, a neon-orange shirt and baggy neon-blue trousers with a zigzag design.
