BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Harkey Out After Surgery
The Chicago Cubs say right-handed pitcher Mike Harkey won’t be able to throw again until at least August. Harkey had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Thursday. There was a tear in the cartilage, but no damage to the rotator cuff and Harkey’s shoulder joint is stable, the team said.
Organizers of a drive to bring major league baseball back to Washington said they have received deposits for the equivalent of more than 20,000 season tickets.
According to John Akridge, head of Metropolitan Washington Baseball, deposits totaling more than $2.2 million were processed during the first 20 days of a monthlong ticket drive.
