NO DIRT PLEASE: A county GOP panel is examining “ethics for campaign consultants.” The party already has a conduct code for candidates but says consultants play “a very major role” in campaigns. One concern to be studied: “excessive consulting fees.” . . . GOP honchos were unhappy with March’s special state Senate election. Assemblyman John R. Lewis finished first but accused opponent Dana Reed of sending voters a “disgusting” mailer “slandering me.”
