Whadjathink Heads East to Race in the Preakness
Whadjathink, winner of last week’s Spotlight Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park, will be shipped east today to run in the Preakness Stakes.
Whadjathink is the eighth horse to commit to the 116th running of the Preakness May 18. Kentucky Derby winner Strike The Gold was due to leave Louisville, Ky. for Baltimore on Tuesday night.
Also on the definite entry list are Best Pal and Mane Minister--who finished second and third in the Derby--Olympio, Corporate Report, Near the Limit and Honor Grades.
The Spotlight was the third victory in five starts for Whadjathink, whose father Seattle Song won the Washington D.C. International at Laurel in 1984.
Jorge Velasquez rode Whadjathink in the Spotlight, replacing Gary Stevens, who was at Churchill Downs to ride Best Pal. Stevens had ridden the colt in his other four starts, all of which were this year at Southern California tracks.
Whadjathink is trained by Michael Whittingham, son of Hall of Famer Charlie Whittingham.
