Torrance resident Chris Donnels singled in his first major league at-bat, knocking in a run in the Mets’ three-run first. . . . Donnels became the 88th third baseman in the Mets’ 30-year history. . . . The Dodgers had a streak snapped at six consecutive steals when Brett Butler was picked off by Frank Viola while breaking for second in the first inning. Butler had singled to extend his hitting streak to 13 games.
