FLICKS FILM & VIDEO FILE : ‘Surfers’ Sequel : Ventura filmmaker Bill Delaney is back with more big waves and bronzed bodies--even a little ‘sky surfing.’

Filmmaker Bill Delaney, a Ventura resident and Santa Barbara native, has come out with a sequel to his successful “Surfers The Movie” movie, titled “Surfers The Movie Take-Two.” It will be shown twice on Sunday at the Ventura Theatre and then in Santa Barbara next week.

Like the original, the new film has some spectacular footage and interviews with past, present and future stars of the sport. There’s about 25 minutes of new action in this one (much of it featuring world champion Tom Curren) and an entirely new section featuring some of the best women surfers around.

“Surfers” will have an opening act at each of the presentations--a four-minute French film titled “Sky Surfer.” What is a sky surfer? Exactly what the name implies. The film shows a man gliding and somersaulting in the sky aboard a small surfboard, which apparently functions as a pair of wings. The action in the film is backed by a recording of “Suicide Blonde” by INXS.

Show times at the Ventura Theatre are 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The theater is at 26 S. Chestnut St.

For Mother’s Day the Ojai Film Society will show the 1990 motion picture “Men Don’t Leave,” starring Jessica Lange.

Lange plays the recently widowed mother of two children, who tries to relocate her family from a small town to the big city, despite being short on finances. The film also features Kathy Bates, who this year won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance in “Misery.” Show time is 4:30 p.m. at the Ojai Playhouse.
