Louisville basketball Coach Denny Crum said he entered a campus gym briefly to find an injured player and cheer him up, not to watch a pickup game involving other Cardinal players.
Crum was responding to a report that he violated an NCAA rule by being at the pickup game.
Alan Cutler, sports anchor for WLEX-TV in Lexington, showed videotape of Crum speaking with injured player Greg Minor in the Student Activities Center gym while other Cardinals played.
The videotape showed Minor’s foot in a cast, then showed Crum speaking with him. Both appeared to be looking toward the playing floor as they talked.
Crum said he went to the gym to find Minor adding that Minor had become depressed after breaking his foot, and Crum wanted to cheer him up.
