A Sacramento man is being held for investigation of murder after a tailgating dispute ended in a fatal shooting on the center divider of a busy freeway.

Felix Hernandez, 36, died Sunday in a Sacramento hospital from a gunshot wound to the head that he suffered Saturday on the California 99 freeway about five miles south of downtown Sacramento. Motorist Howard Lee King, 39, also of Sacramento, was booked for investigation of murder.

Officers said both men had children in their vehicles--King his 1-year-old daughter and Hernandez a 12-year-old stepson--when the two drivers became involved in a series of high-speed lane changes, cutting each other off on the busy freeway. Neither child was injured.
