If Howe Gets the OK, Then Rose Should, Too

Baseball’s hierarchy certainly has me baffled. The logic in allowing Steve Howe to return to the major leagues after six suspensions for drug and alcohol abuse, but handing Pete Rose a lifetime suspension for betting on ballgames, borders on ridiculous.

Whatever Rose was guilty of, he still earned the respect and admiration of his many fans by always performing to the peak of his ability. On the other hand, it’s difficult to sympathize with a player who on six separate occasions has embarrassed himself and his teammates by being under the influence.
