OAK VIEW : Water District Plans Rate Hike Hearing
Customers of the Casitas Municipal Water District will have an opportunity to voice their opinions Wednesday about a proposed 6.3% rate increase.
A public hearing on the proposal will be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Oak View Elementary School, 555 Mahoney Ave.
The proposed increase averages 6.3%, but rates will vary because they reflect the actual costs of delivering water, district General Manager John Johnson said.
Residential customers could see their bills increase from 2% to 8%, depending upon the amount of water used, he said.
Agricultural users will be the hardest hit under the proposed rate hikes, paying 9.6% more for prime irrigation.
The new rates are scheduled to take effect July 1.
