MISSION VIEJO : Students in Program to Learn in Spanish
Enrollment has begun for a Saddleback Valley Unified School District program that will teach English-speaking children in Spanish, beginning with a kindergarten class this fall.
Taught at Valencia Elementary School, the Spanish Bilingual Immersion Program will seek to make both English and Spanish speakers fluent in the other language. Thirty children--15 English speakers and 15 Spanish speakers--will be selected from a list of students volunteered by their parents.
To be eligible, the child must live in the district and be entering kindergarten this fall.
