Davey Allison led from start to finish and took home $325,000 by winning The Winston at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Allison’s Ford Thunderbird beat Ken Schrader’s Chevrolet by 2.87 seconds. His average speed was a record 168.75 m.p.h. over the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
