Nolan Ryan, placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of pain in his right shoulder, will treat the injury with medication and exercise.

The 44-year-old pitcher was scheduled to rejoin the Rangers in Minneapolis, where surging Texas began a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins. The Rangers have a won a season-high seven games in a row.

Ryan was examined by Lewis Yocum, a longtime friend and orthopedic specialist for the Angels, and underwent a magnetic resonance imaging test, which confirmed irritation in the trapezius muscle and tendinitis in the right shoulder.
