Share

A man who steals wallets while touring mobile homes that are for sale struck again in Camarillo, authorities said Thursday.

The man entered a woman’s home on Christina Avenue through the back door Wednesday about 2 p.m. He asked to be shown around, and the 74-year-old occupant gave him a tour, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Lazz said.

The man surveyed the outside of the mobile home and left, Lazz said. The woman became nervous afterward and checked her purse. Her wallet, containing $50 in cash, her driver’s license and her credit cards, was gone, Lazz said.

The man has hit three other residences in Camarillo and one in Oxnard, Lazz said. In addition, detectives are investigating whether he is the same man believed responsible for 15 similar crimes in Thousand Oaks.
