A 39-year-old Mission Hills man who pleaded guilty to a string of robberies at fast-food chicken restaurants in the San Fernando Valley was sentenced to 22 years in state prison Thursday.

William Paul Scott, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to nine counts of robbery, was sentenced in San Fernando Superior Court by Judge Meredith C. Taylor.

Several of the robberies occurred at Pioneer Chicken and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in March and April, said Deputy Dist. Atty. William E. Holliman. In each instance, Scott used a gun and worked alone. He took $350 in the largest robbery and $8 in the smallest, Holliman said.

“He apparently had a habit of robbing the same place on more than one occasion,” Holliman said, noting that Scott held up the Kentucky Fried Chicken at 10865 N. Sepulveda Boulevard twice in the same month. Scott was arrested April 27, after a witness wrote down the license plate number of his car during one of the robberies.
