3 Architects Are Honored

Los Angeles area architects William M. Adams, Rebecca L. Binder and William H. Fain Jr. have been elevated to Fellows of the American Institute of Architects for their outstanding achievements in architecture.

Adams, a full-time professor of architectural design at Cal Poly Pomona, is a principal of William Adams Architecture in Santa Monica. His 16-year-old firm has won two design awards from the California Council of the American Institute of Architects and six from AIA/Los Angeles chapter.

Binder is now one of 12 women in California and the first woman architect from the Los Angeles chapter to have advanced to Fellow in the area of design. She operates her own firm, R. L. Binder, AIA Architecture & Planning, in Playa del Rey, started in 1979.

Fain, director of urban design and planning and partner of Johnson Fain and Pereira Associates in Los Angeles, has been nationally recognized for his innovative work including the 1999 Avenue of the Stars office tower; the Fox Plaza in Century City and the Warner Center Master Plan in Woodland Hills.
