Macpherson in 4th Place in U.S. Open
Leanne Barrette of Oklahoma City broke away from a third-round deadlock with San Diego’s Wendy Macpherson to build a 119-pin lead over Cheryl Daniels after five rounds of the U.S. Open bowling tournament on Tuesday.
Barrette qualified for the match-play finals with 8,934 pins after compiling a 5-3 record. Daniels of Detroit went 6-1-1 and had a pinfall 8,815. Adamek (4-4) of Apple Valley downed 8,801 pins, and Macpherson (4-4) was fourth with 8,761.
Carol Norman of Ardmore, Okla., moved into sixth place by going 6-2 in match play and compiling a 8,754 pinfall.
