SAN CLEMENTE : 11 Seniors Named to U.S. Academies

Eleven high school seniors from South County school districts have been appointed to military service academies by Rep. Ron Packard (R-Oceanside), it was announced this week.

The appointments were based on scholarship, school and community involvement, volunteerism, athletics and medical and physical aptitude tests, according to a spokesman for Packard. The students were selected from a field of about 70 applicants.

From Capistrano Valley High School, Vincent Rossini was appointed to the Air Force Academy and Anthony G. Solliday was appointed to the Naval Academy.

From El Toro High School, Jason A. Brizic and Andrew McIntyre were appointed to the Military Academy, and Paul C. Wood was appointed to the Air Force Academy.

From Mission Viejo High School, Megan M. McClung was appointed to the Naval Academy and Trevor M. Davis was appointed to the Air Force Academy.

From Santa Margarita High School, Kathryn M. Dullack was appointed to the Air Force Academy and Eric C. Brown and Thad D. Zak were appointed to Military Academy.

From San Clemente High School, Andrew K. Whiat was appointed to the Air Force Academy.
