Bernson Plan Serves Needs of the Few
Since the creation of the Simi Valley Freeway, our neighborhood in northwest Chatsworth has suffered an inordinate amount of rush-hour traffic from Simi Valley residents and surrounding areas.
At a meeting at Councilman Hal Bernson’s office with Tom Swire of the Traffic Department, we were told that our residential street was designated a “feeder” route to alleviate traffic on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and De Soto Avenue. Swire indicated that Bernson’s office had no direct influence with the Traffic Department.
Oh?
So how did Bernson manage to restrict traffic during rush hours on Balboa Boulevard, which is a main arterial road, barricade Melvin Avenue between Chatsworth Street and Devonshire Street and push through a billion-dollar catastrophe like the Porter Ranch Development?
Why is Bernson not telling Simi Valley residents to create jobs within their community as he alludes to Santa Clarita?
This appears to be another last-ditch effort on Mr. Bernson’s part to placate influential voters during a crucial election.
