Police on Tuesday were searching for a 23-year-old Newport Beach woman whose car was found abandoned Monday night on the Corona del Mar Freeway.

The parents of Denise Anette Huber reported her missing Monday evening after they discovered that she did not return home from a concert at the Forum in Inglewood Sunday night, Costa Mesa Police Officer Bob Crogan said.

After the concert, Huber and a male friend stopped at a Long Beach restaurant before she dropped him off at his Huntington Beach home, Crogan said. Her car, a blue 1984 Honda Accord, was found abandoned with a flat tire on the Corona del Mar Freeway, south of Bear Street on Monday night, Crogan said.

“We have feelings about these things, and this one doesn’t feel good,” Police Capt. Tom Lazar said.

The missing woman’s mother, Ione Huber, described her daughter as a conscientious person who religiously informed the family of her whereabouts whenever she planned to stay out late.

“It’s not like her,” Ione Huber said Tuesday. “She doesn’t do that . . . stay away from home and not call.”
