La Verne : Development Fee Studied
The City Council will consider Saturday an ordinance that would impose a $5,000 fee on each new home in the foothills area.
Money raised by the measure, which would apply to all new homes in the Hillside Development Overlay Zone in north La Verne, would be used to buy fire equipment and possibly to construct a fire station.
Because two of the five members were absent from Monday’s meeting, the matter was delayed until a special session Saturday. Since it was proposed as an urgency ordinance, four votes would be required to adopt it.
Officials said it was proposed as an urgency measure, to take effect immediately, because of several developments now planned in the foothills area.
