An unemployed parolee was being held Friday in connection with the stabbing death of his estranged wife, police said.
The body of Linda Merkel, 40, was found by police in the front room of her house in the 300 block of Richfield Avenue after they received a call from her relatives, who said she had not been heard from for a couple of days.
Neighbors told police that Merkel’s estranged husband, Shane Edwin Merkel, 27, had been seen at the house just hours before.
After interviewing Shane Merkel at his trailer park home on Van Houten Avenue, police took him into custody and booked him into County Jail.
