Supervisors Vote Selves $392 Monthly ‘Allowance’

Share

Los Angeles County supervisors Tuesday gave final approval to a $392 a month “professional development allowance” they will pay themselves and other county executives.

The vote was 3 to 1 with Supervisor Gloria Molina dissenting. Supervisor Deane Dana, who was absent because of an eye infection, issued a statement decrying the allowance as “inappropriate” in light of proposed county budget cuts. His statement said that his “no” vote would not have altered the outcome of the board roll call. He said he plans to donate his allowance to charity.

The allowance will go into effect July 1 for 238 Superior Court judges and Jan. 1 for 33 county department and the five supervisors. Supervisors currently earn $99,297 a year.
