SIMI VALLEY : City Creates Panel to Study Rezoning
The Simi Valley City Council is creating a committee to help it decide whether a portion of a relatively undeveloped area in the heart of the city should be rezoned to encourage more development.
The council, in deciding Monday to form the committee, said it hoped to reach a compromise between residents and property owners who would prefer little or no change and those who would like to see more development.
Council members Glen McAdoo and Judy Mikels will head the committee, which will include about a dozen residents and property owners of the Kadota Fig area. The city will be accepting applications for the committee for the next two weeks.
Kadota Fig is an area encompassing 448 acres bounded by Tapo Canyon Road on the west, Alamo Street on the north, Stearns Street on the east and Cochran Street on the south.
