IN BRIEF : ‘Heart of City’ Run May Attract 4,000

About 4,000 runners are expected to participate in the seventh Union Bank “Heart of the City” 5-K run tonight in downtown Los Angeles. This year’s event is expected to boost the total raised by the annual runs for the American Heart Assn. to $1 million.

Runners will gather at 5 p.m. at Union Bank Plaza, 445 S. Figueroa, with the run to begin at 7 p.m. The race will terminate on 5th Street near Flower.

There will be live music and food on the Westin Bonaventure deck and an awards ceremony and prizes for race winners and top fund-raisers. Registration is $18 for individuals; five-person corporate teams may enter for a $1,000 tax-deductible fee.
